Event data |
Name: 7th American Chess Congress - Minor Tournament |
Place: Saint Louis |
Start date: 3 Oct. 1904 |
End date: 8 Oct. 1904 |
|
Notes: |
This was also the 5th Western Chess Association Tournament and the 5th USA Open Championship. Gaige has 'Magnus Smith' here; Di Felice has 'Smith, Magnus Magnusson; chessgames.com has 'Harsen Darwin Smith'. Hilbert, and the American Chess Bulletin of Oct. 1904 (p.89), have 'Judge Harsen D. Smith'. Hilbert, in his biography of Kemeny (p.286) cites the Kansas Star of 9 Oct. 1904 describing the final outcome, so I guess that the event ended on 8 Oct. 1904. |
