Notes: |
7-player, single-round all-play-all, with draws not counting and being replayed. Gaige, Di Felice, La Grande Storia degli Scacchi, the Chess Players' Quarterly Chronicle (Dec. 1870, p.184), the Schachzeitung (Jan. 1871, p.16), and the Neue Berliner Schachzeitung (Nov. 1870, p.321) all omit the draws, included by Forster. Staunton in the Illustrated London News gives numbers of wins, losses and draws for each player, but the numbers of draws given for Burn, Blackburne and Ide are short. Gaige says that Wisker won the play-off but doesn't give the play-off score. Forster says the two tie-break games took place on 26 and 29 Oct. 1870. |
