Event data |
Name: 1st New South Wales - Victoria Telegraphic Match |
Place: Sydney and Melbourne |
Start date: 9 Nov. 1870 |
End date: 9 Nov. 1870 |
|
Notes: |
Staunton in the Illustrated London News says that the player named Stanley in this event is 'the well-known ex-champion of the United States' but OzBase gives John Shaw Stanley not Charles Henry Stanley. The game Fisher-Pendrill involved a mistransmitted move at move 22 which led to a controversy and a decision to declare the game a draw. |
