Notes: |
Only partial results available. This was a 45-player double-round all-play-all in principle, though many games were not played. Totals for the top 6 players (Delmar, Mason, Perrin, Barnett, Schaffer, de Con) are given by van Winsen, the Spirit of the Times of 20 Feb. 1869, the Round Table of 27 Feb. 1869 (p.141) and the Era of 21 Mar. 1869 (p.6), though the New York Clipper of 27 Feb. 1869 includes Randegger rather than de Con, but since we don't know which opponents were played and which were not and the top 6 played different numbers of games (against different sets of opponents), we cannot use these results for rating purposes. I have only recorded the results of pairings where the score of both games is known (apart from possibly missing draws), and the result of the play-off for fifth prize between Schäffer and de Con. The New York Clipper of 27 Feb. 1869 also gives a score for Picard, who lost the most games. |
