Notes: |
The report in the Daily Picayune of 30 Aug. 1885 (p.11) gives a full crosstable and says that Factum withdrew and forfeited 3 games, but it also notes 5 forfeits for E.J. Blanchard, and 7 for L.E. Lyons. The Brooklyn Chess Chronicle of 15 Sept. 1885 (p.180) garbles this information. It is not clear who the forfeited games were against, so I am making a guess, spreading around the recipients of the forfeits. This may cause some errors, but these should not be great. The Nashville Union of 7 June 1885 gives a game between Labatt and Factum dated 23 May which is said to be a second round game, though it is not entirely clear if this is the second round of the tournament. The Nashville Union of 26 July 1885 gives a game dated 12 July that is definitely from the tournament, so it must have started by 12 Jul. 1885. |
