| Play-off between the two tournament sections that made up the 1st United States Chess Association Tournament. Showalter won the 'State Champions Tourney', while Euphrat won the 'Free-for-All' tournament. Euphrat won the only game played in the play-off match, but then fell ill, so Showalter was accorded the win with an official score of 2-1. |
