Event data
Name: Simpson's Divan Handicap Play-off
Place: London, England
Start date: July 1884
End date: Aug. 1884

Notes:
The first game (won by Guest) of the play-off between the two sections of this tournament was played in July; the other two games were played after Guest's return from the Counties Chess Association meeting in Bath, which finished on 1 Aug. 1884. Harding also says that Blackburne let Gunsberg and Donisthorpe play off for the third prize, 'which ended in a tie'. I am guessing that this means a single draw, Gunsberg giving Pawn and Move odds.
