Notes: |
Only partial results available. This was a 48-player knock-out tournament, in which after 4 rounds, 3 players remained, Gunsberg, Heywood and Harry Jackson. The latter was beaten by Gunsberg and eliminated (though the report in the Chess Player's Chronicle doesn't give scores, so I record it as 1-0 for Gunsberg) and the final was between Gunsberg and Heywood. Two wins were needed to win the pairing, but when the score was +1-0=5 for Heywood, Gunsberg withdrew, according to the Chess Player's Chronicle. Steve Mann says the score was +2-0=5 for Heywood. |
