Event data |
Name: Sheffield and District - Leeds Woodhouse Cup Match |
Place: Sheffield |
Start date: 27 Feb. 1886 |
End date: 27 Feb. 1886 |
|
Notes: |
The identities of some of the players is not clear. I am guessing that Steve Mann's 'J Barton/Barlow' was actually J. Barton, and that 'J Moorhouse' was James Moorhouse of Leeds and not John Moorhouse. There are a number of chess players with names similar to 'J Shephard', but none from Leeds, so I presume this is a different person. The Leeds Mercury of 6 Mar. 1886 has 'J.E. Foster', while Steve Mann has 'F E Foster'. |
