Notes: |
Only partial results available. This was a 23-player double-round all-play-all handicap tournament. Not all games were played, and van Winsen gives only the scores of the top 3 finishers, all in the first class, who finished most of their games. Mackenzie played all 44 games (2 against each of 22 opponents), while Delmar played 43 and Richardson only 40. I don't know, however, which opponents were not played, so I will simply include the results of pairings where the score of both games is known (possibly missing draws). Other players included James P. Barnett, Philip Richardson, Napoleon Marache, William Johns[t]on, Edward N. Frankenstein, J.H. Ward, Lissner [B.? or J.?] and C. Schultz. Mackenzie won with 42 out of 44. There is a win by Zerega over Thompson in The Chess World of Nov. 1867 (p.293), but this may be from a later tournament? |
