Event table notes

Event data
Name: 2nd German Chess Federation Congress - Meisterturnier
Place: Berlin
Start date: 29 Aug. 1881
End date: 17 Sep. 1881

Notes:
Di Felice's crosstable has inconsistencies. The game Wittek-Blackburne is marked as a loss for Wittek but a draw for Blackburne and Wittek-Zukertort is marked as a draw for Wemmers but a win for Zukertort. Moving one '=' would make it internally consistent as well as consistent with the crosstables of Gaige, Feenstra Kuiper, Berliner Schachverband and La Grande Storia degli Scacchi. Similarly, Wemmers is marked as scoring '0 = = 0 = ' against Schwarz, Berger, L. Paulsen, W. Paulsen and Schallopp, wheras those opponents are marked as scoring '= = 1 = 0' against Wemmers. If the former are adjusted to match the latter (i.e. '= = 0 = 1') then the table is internally consistent and consistent with Gaige, Feenstra Kuiper, Berliner Schachverband and La Grande Storia degli Scacchi. Di Felice, Berliner Schachverband and La Grande Storia degli Scacchi include Pitschel, who played only 3 games, all losses, against Winawer, Chigorin and Berger; Gaige and Feenstra Kuiper omit Pitschel in their crosstables. The Berliner Schachverband website indicates that Blackburne's win over Noa was by default; Gaige, Feenstra Kuiper, Di Felice and La Grande Storia degli Scacchi mark it as a genuine win. Gaige, Feenstra Kuiper, Di Felice and Berliner Schachverband give ending date Sept. 17, 1881; La Grande Storia degli Scacchi gives ending date Sept. 19.
