Notes: |
Only partial results available. This was probably a knock-out tournament like others of the era. The 1860-1861 Vienna tournament was possibly a knock-out event (Anderberg thought so, but Harding considers this unproven). The 1861-1862 event was definitely an all-play-all event. We have only the result of one game between Pilhal and Jenay, but it may well have involved only one game per pairing like the 1851 tournament in Vienna and like the Manchester tournament of 1857, so I record this one result here. Pitschel won the 32-player event. Harding suggests that this tournament was played over the 1857/1858 winter season, and says that Kunnewalder was second, and Schlemm third. |
