Name: Vienna Chess Club Tournament |
Place: Vienna |
Start date: 8 Jan. 1882 |
End date: 12 Mar. 1882 |

Notes: |
Meitner defaulted to Englisch and M. Fleissig defaulted to Weiss. The game Hruby-Meitner was not played or scored, but Hruby had already won the tournament. The Chess Player's Chronicle (p.76) gives a game from the first round played on Jan. 8, so the tournament must have started then or shortly before, and (p.197) gives an 8th round game (out of 9 rounds) played on March 11. The issue of March 22 (p.140-141) gives the final scores, so it certainly finished in March. Gillam, in the Quarterly for Chess History, gives exact start and end dates. |
