Event table notes

Event data
Name: Warsaw Tournament
Place: Warsaw
Start date: 18 Nov. 1883
End date: 24 Feb. 1884

Notes:
Di Felice gives 'Winawer, Szymon Abramowicz' at this event, but Polish sources make it clear that it was Marcin Winawer. Lissowski identifies the player who came 7th as Władysław Bogusławski, but Kurjer Warszawski of 11 Mar. 1884 (p.5) has a letter signed by ten of the twelve participants, including Kazimierz Bogusławski. Di Felice has 'Bobowicz' here, but Kurjer Warszawski has 'Bowicz, Stanisław'. A number of games were forfeited: Bowicz forfeited both games against Kleczyński and Heilpern, and one game each against Żabiński, Szczawiński, Weydlich, Winawer, Englert, and Pastuszewski; Englert forfeited one against Żabiński; Pastuszewski forfeited one against Winawer; Szczawiński forfeited one against Żabiński, and forfeited one game after adjournment against Popławski.
