Event table notes

Event data
Name: 4th New Jersey State Tournament - Championship
Place: Plainfield and Elizabeth
Start date: 22 Feb. 1889
End date: 30 Mar. 1889

Notes:
This was a 16-player tournament in which players played between 1 and 4 games, but was not strictly a knock-out tournament. Most of the games were played on 22 Feb. 1889 in Plainfield, but the final three games, listed here, were played later, some in Elizabeth, the last on 30 Mar. 1889. The History of the New Jersey Chess Association by Walker gives numbers of wins and losses by all players but not who played against whom. The 3 game results we have may not be exactly representative of these players' total scores, but they might be considered as final play-off games that determined who won the championship, so I include them for rating here.
