Feenstra Kuiper and La Grande Storia degli Scacchi call this the 1st Australian Congress; OzBase and Di Felice call it the 2nd Australian Championship; Di Felice and the British Chess Magazine also call it the Intercolonial Chess Congress. OzBase has 'Crewe, John E.' and 'Witton, John George' at this event; Di Felice has 'Crewe, Joseph E.' and 'Witton, Joseph George'. Gaige's Chess Personalia agrees with Di Felice. Di Felice gives ending date Aug. 31, 1887, but OzBase indicates that the last games were played on Aug. 26. |
