Event table notes

Event data
Name: 1st United States Chess Association Meeting - Championship Tournament
Place: Cincinnati
Start date: 4 Sep. 1888
End date: 7 Sep. 1888

Notes:
According to the International Chess Magazine of Oct. 1888 (p.295) Judd only played 4 games, losing both his games against Tomlinson by forfeit, and one game against each of the others. The Columbia Chess Chronicle of 15 Sep. 1888 (p.94) says that Judd played only 3 games, a draw each against Showalter and Mohle, and a win against Burns, but does not indicate that he lost a game (actually played) against Hanham. Gaige and Di Felice follow the International Chess Magazine.
