The Chess Players' Chronicle of Jun. 1875 (p.284) gives numbers of wins on each side and number of 'Drawn, or Unfinished' games, without distinguishing between these two results. The Westminster Papers does indicate which were draws and which were 'Unfinished, and therefore given up as drawn'. The unfinished games were the second game between ranken and Minchin, which I will not count here, and a game between Ayre and Berry. However, the Chess Player's Chronicle lists this result as +0-0=2, while the Westminster Papers lists it as a single unfinished game. I will guess that there was a first finished game that was drawn, as well as the unfinished game, and record only the finished game. |
