| I am guessing that the Bristol player of the late 1860s and early 1870s is the same as the Bristol player of the 1880s. Could this be 'William L. Franklin', active in London from 1866 to 1871? Or 'William Franklin' who played for Stourbridge and Wolverhampton in 1867? The Chess Player's Chronicle of Feb. 1872 (vol.3, p.26) has 'Franklyn', who I am guessing is 'William Franklin', though it might be 'J. Franklin'. |
