Event data |
Name: Impromptu International Tournament |
Place: New York |
Start date: 30 Sep. 1893 |
End date: 14 Oct. 1893 |
|
Notes: |
Pope's crosstable indicates that Olly's win over Pollock was by default. Neither the crosstables given by Gaige, Di Felice and La Grande Storia degli Scacchi, nor the scores given by Feenstra Kuiper and Reichhelm indicate any defaulted games. Gillam, in the Quarterly for Chess History, also says that Pollock defaulted to Olly. Gave and Di Felice give end date as 14 Oct. 1893. Davies gives the date of the last round as 17 Oct. 1893. Pope (p.55) gives a game dated 17 Oct. 1893. Urcan (p.65) gives end date as 18 Oct. 1893. |
