Notes: |
Scores are not completely clear as reported, but have a most likely interpretation. For example, in the match Kargling-Horski, Kargling has a 2 in his 'Games' column and a 0 in his 'Drawn' column, while Horski has a 1 in his 'Games' column and a 1 in his 'Drawn' column. I presume this to mean that the score was +2-1=1, though why the winners should have a 'Drawn' column in this case is not clear. Similarly, for the Stark-Mackey match, a draw is indicated for Mackey but not for Stark. Again I take this to mean +2-0=1. Dates are not certain but before October since it is reported in the Illustrated London News of Oct. 4, 1851. |
