| Title and dates from personal correspondence with Tim Harding, apparently from the Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic News. Harding also says that 4 of Van Gelder's losses were forfeits, including one to Davis. Van Gelder did play Blake, Atkins, Jacobs and Gunston, so the other 3 forfeits were to 3 of Elwell, Lambert, Rumboll and Jones. I have entered all of these as defaults, though one of the 4 must have had a genuine win against Van Gelder. |
