Event table notes

Event data
Name: Sverdlovsk 1st Category Tournament
Place: Sverdlovsk
Start date: 1945
End date: 1945

Notes:
Di Felice has 'Ulanov, Lev Alexeevich' and 'Zdanovs, Igors' here, while Popovsky has 'Ulianov' and 'Zhdanov'. Since Di Felice has 'Ulianov, Yury Pavlovich' at the All-Union 1st Category tournament in Gorky, which seems to have been a final among some of the top players of the 1st Category tournaments in Sverdlovsk, Erevan, Tula, and Tallinn, and Popovsky also has 'Ulianov' there, it seems likely to have been Ulianov here at Sverdlovsk also. While Igors Zdanovs of Riga was called Igor Zhdanov in Russian, he seems always to have played in Riga, while there was another Russian player named Zhdanov, who played in Leningrad in 1927 and Ufa in 1934 who seems more likely to have been the player here at Sverdlovsk in 1945. They are not the same player, since Igor Zhdanov was born in 1920, and was therefore too young to have been playing in events in 1927 and 1934.
