Notes: |
A report in the Toronto Globe gives Kling's opponent as Boden, but the Chess Player's Chronicle, the Morning Chronicle, the Era, the Western Daily Press and the Manchester Weekly Express and Guardian all say it was Burden, while Boden was the umpire in Bristol. The Toronto Globe and the Era of 15 Sep. 1861 (p.6) give Cunningham's opponent as Fedden (and the Morning Chronicle has 'Tedder'), but the Chess Player's Chronicle, the Era of 22 Sep. 1861 (p.15), the Western Daily Press and the Manchester Weekly Express and Guardian say it was Langley, who came with Fedden from Cardiff. |
