Notes: |
Feenstra Kuiper gives the result as +6-3=1; Sergeant, Di Felice and the Berliner Schachverband website give +6-1=3; Charuchin gives 7.5-2.5. Feenstra Kuiper and Di Felice give the date as 1896; the Berliner Schachverband website gives 1895. Feenstra Kuiper gives the location as Budapest; Di Felice gives Szekesfehervar. Sergeant dates it to April 1896 and locates it in Budapest. Charuchin says that Exner organized the match in Székesfehérvár, and that it was played from Oct. 2 to Oct. 10, 1896. However, the Deutsche Schachzeitung of Dec. 1896 (p.383) says that it was played in April. Szekesfehérvári Hirlap (12 Apr. 1896, p.2) confirms that Exner invited Charousek to Székesfehérvár for the match and that the score was +6-1=3. It was clearly played in April. Exact dates were sent to me by Ralf Hemberger from Magyar Sakkélet of Dec. 1964. |
