Beeby's book quotes a letter written by him (dated 23 Sept. 1848) in which he claims that Kennedy had played four games with Harrwitz, getting +1-3, and only his win had been published. That game appeared in the 20 June 1846 issue of the Illustrated London News (p.402). The others could have been played any time during Harrwitz's time in Britain to that point, namely May 1846 - Aug. 1847, or from about May/June 1848 to the time the comment was written in Sept. 1848. I will guess they were all played in 1846. |
