Notes: |
Feenstra Kuiper and Di Felice give location as London, but the Chess Player's Chronicle (Nov. 1852, p.339) gives the location as Hull and the date as 'the 20th ult.', so presumably 20 Oct. 1852. Renette and Zavatarelli claim that the results was 4-1 for Horwitz, and that the games given in the Chess Player's Chronicle of Nov. 1852 support this, despite the text in that journal giving the result as 4-1 for Löwenthal. Of the three games that appear in that volume of the Chess Player's Chronicle, however, two won by Löwenthal (pp.339-342, and pp.359-360). |
