Hooper and Whyld give result as +2-0=2 for Petrov. Di Felice gives +3-0=1. In the Dec. 1859 issue of Shakhmatniy Listok, p.327 (sent to me by Geert Van der Wulp), the editor, Mikhailov, gives the result of the 1853 match as +2-0=2, but says he is not certain about the score. The Apr. 1860 issue of Shakhmatniy Listok, p.99, gives +3-1 for Petrov. Three games between them are given in the Chess Player's Chronicle of 1853 and 1854, all won by Petrov. The Illustrated London News gives a win by Petrov and a draw. I do not know whether this was considered a formal match. Shakhmatniy Listok says that Petrov played this match while visiting Saint Petersburg in Apr. 1853. |
