La Grande Storia degli Scacchi gives 14-9 for Brien. The Chess Player's Chronicle (Feb. 1855, p.56) gives +11-6=6. Di Felice and Spinrad give 1854; La Grande Storia degli Scacchi gives 1845-1855. The report in the Illustrated London News (20 Jan. 1855, p.59) and in more detail in the Era show that the match commenced around the beginning of Nov. 1854 and finished in Jan. 1855, at least by the 14th of that month. |
