This is a soft result. Dubois says that Ciccolini won a challenge against 'S. Egisti', getting revenge for a loss a few months earlier. I will record the net result as 1-1. It is not clear whether this was Giovanni Antonio Egisti or l'Abate Alessandro Egisti, but usually the latter is given a religious title (either 'Don' or 'Abate'), so I presume this was the more prominent Egisti, Giovanni Antonio. This is reported after the heading for 1849 in the account by Dubois, but also after he says he spent a few months in Todi. The next heading is for 1852-53, so these matches took place betwen 1849 and 1851. I will guess at 1850. |
