Biographical data
Name: Ciccolini, Alessandro
Also known as: Alexander Pius Petrus Venantius Marquis Ciccolini
Born: 22 Oct. 1817
Died: 8 Apr. 1879

Notes:
I am guessing that the A. Ciccolini who played in the Netherlands in the 1870s is in fact Alessandro Ciccolini, as mentioned by Dubois in Rivista Scacchistica Italiana (Jan. 1900, p.11; Aug.-Sept. 1900, p.216). Fabrizio Zavatarelli (personal communication) has found that Alessandro Ciccolini married a Dutch woman, and has found a record of his birth and death dates in a Dutch source. He probably lived in the Netherlands from about 1859, and died in Arnhem. There were at least two earlier players named Ciccolini: Commendatore F. Ciccolini (Alessandro's father), and Cavaliere Giuseppe Ciccolini (Alessandro's uncle), and possibly a third, Teodoro Ciccolini, Marchese di Guardiagrele.
