According to George Walker (Bell's Life in London, 25 Jul. 1841, p.2; 22 Aug. 1841, p.2; 5 Nov. 1843, p.2; 7 Jan. 1844, p.2; 21 Dec. 1845, p.3) de Saint-Amant and Kieseritzky only ever played 3 games (at least up until 1845). In the 25 Jul. 1841 issue of Bell's Life, he says the result was +2-1 for de Saint Amant, but corrects this in the 22 Aug. 1841 issue to +1-1=1, which he gives again in the 5 Nov. 1843, the 7 Jan. 1844 and 21 Dec. 1845 issues. Kieseritzky published all three games with their dates in his book, 'Cinquante Parties' (pp.2,9,42). The draw was also published by Walker in the 26 Dec. 1841 issue of Bell's Life in London (p.2) and by Staunton in the Chess Player's Chronicle (v.3, 1842, pp.113-114). Kieseritzky's win is published in the 25 Jul. 1841 issue of Bell's Life, though the ending is given differently. |
