End date: Jan. 1874 |

Notes: |
Feenstra Kuiper, Elo, Di Felice and La Grande Storia degli Scacchi give date as 1873; Zavatarelli and Hooper and Whyld give 1874. The Illustrated London News of 3 Jan. 1874 gives a partial score +3-2 for Wisker, so the match almost certainly began in Dec. 1873, and the 14 Feb. 1874 issue gives the final score, as does the 1 Jan. 1874 issue of the Westminster Papers, so it probably ended in January, as indicated by Tim Harding in Eminent Victorian Chess Players (p.118). |
