   | Hillyer (quoting W.F. Morse in the Feb. 1898 American Chess Magazine) gives +5-3=3 for Möhle. Feenstra Kuiper, Di Felice and Kingston and Russell give +5-0=3. The American Chess Journal of Apr. 1879 (p.313) says Mohle won 5 without losing a game; the Chicago Tribune of 11 May 1879 (p.12) also says that Mohle didn't lose a game; the Cincinnati Commercial Gazette of 3 May 1879 (p.12) and the St. Louis Daily Globe-Democrat of 25 May 1879 (p.10) both give the score explicitly as +5-0=3 for Mohle. Since the result appeared in the Apr. 1879 issue of the American Chess Journal, I am guessing that the match ended in Mar. 1879. | | | |
