The Illustrated London News of 4 Mar. 1872 (p.435) and the Westminster Papers of 1 May 1872 (vol.5, p.2) have 'Parkes' playing for the Halifax Club in a match against Bradford, but in the match between the same clubs a couple of months earlier, 'G. Parker' is listed (Illustrated London News, 23 Mar. 1872, p.291). I presume the latter is correct.
