Notes:
There were two players named 'Fieldsend' who were active in the Bradford Chess Club in the 1860s and 1870s, 'William Fieldsend', and 'Thomas Fieldsend'. Both were active as early as 1864, but the report in the Illustrated London News (30 Apr. 1864, p.435) of the earliest events lists only 'Fieldsend'. I am guessing that this was 'William Fieldsend', purely on the basis that he appears in subsequent events on higher boards for the Bradford team and thus was probably the stronger player.
