| The scores given in the 23 Mar. 1872 issue of the Illustrated London News (p.291) do not match up. Even the totals for the 2 clubs indicate that Bradford scored +3-9=9 and Halifax also scored +3-9=9, if the column headings for wins, losses and draws are taken at face value, but this is impossible. A note in the 6 Apr. 1872 issue (p.339) clarifies that the score was +9-9=3, which means the column headings were wrong in the report of 23 Mar. 1872, but it does not tell us which column gave wins and which losses. Also, some of the scores still do not line up. The Era of 7 Apr. 1872 (p.2) gives a clean result list. |
