Start date: Mar. 1865 |
End date: Mar. 1865 |
|
Notes: |
This was a 3-a-side team match, each pair of players playing 3 games. The reports in the Chess World and Chess Player's Magazine indicate only that Fraser played the 'Champion' of the Glasgow club, that Baxter played the President of the Glasgow Club and that Pindar played the Vice-President. The likely identities of the first two of these Glasgow players can be found on pp.27-28 of the same volume of the Chess Player's Magazine, where the President (as of Nov. 1864) is named as J.K. Richardson (actually J.R. Richardson) and the winner of the club tournament amongst the eight best players of the club is given as George Heggie. A personal communication from Alan McGowan establishes that W.W. Mitchell was the Glasgow Club's Vice-President, at least from about 1863 to 1867. |
