Notes: |
Di Felice's crosstable shows a draw for Tonkin against Jeater, but a loss for Jeater against Tonkin. To make the total scores correct, this must have been a win for Tonkin. The Sun (Sydney) of 20 May 1923 (p.2) says that Berry forfeited to Jeater in the last round because of illness, and the Sydney Morning Herald of 21 May 1923 (p.10) says that Berry forfeited to both Jonas and Jeater. Di Felice's crosstable shows the game Berry-Jonas as not played, but shows the game Berry-Jeater as a win for Jeater. Neither game can be included here for rating purposes, of course. Di Felice's crosstable also shows a win for Tonkin over Scholey, but the Sydney Morning Herald of 25 May 1923 (p.14) says that this game was drawn. Di Felice gives the end date as 19 May 1923, which was the date scheduled for last round games, but three games were not finished then, and were finished afterwards, but before the report in the Sydney Morning Herald of 25 May 1923, so I give the end date as 24 May 1923 (though it might have been a bit earlier). |
