| Zavatarelli says that Nottingham scored +6-5=1, but the Leicester Chronicle and Leicestershire Mercury of 10 Feb. 1877 (p.11) gives full results amounting to +5-5=1. Zavatarelli says that 'A.J. Stevenson' played first board for Nottingham; The Leicester Chronicle and Leicestershire Mercury has 'G.A. Stevenson'. I strongly suspect that this was A.St.J. Stevenson. This was a return match. The earlier encounter was played in Leicester on 25 Jan. 1877, won +9-8=0 by Nottingham, but I have no individual results for that event. |
