Gaige shows the 2nd game between Hymes and Baird as not played; Di Felice, Davies, Goeller, La Grande Storia degli Scacchi and the Marshall Career web page show it as a draw. Feenstra Kuiper gives only total scores consistent with Gaige. Hilbert confirms that 'Hymes and Baird did not play their second game'. Hilbert in Young Marshall gives the start date as 15 Oct. 1900, but Hilbert and Lahde in their biography of Albert Beauregard Hodges, gives 22 Oct. 1900 and gives dates of games confirming this. Goeller gives end date 11 Nov. 1900; Hilbert and the Marshall Career web page give end date 13 Nov. 1900. Goeller and La Grande Storia degli Scacchi call it a 'Manhattan Chess Club Championship'; Gaige, Di Felice and Hilbert indicate that it was not a club championship; Davies says it was called a Sexangular Tournament. |
