Start date: 3 Aug. 1886 |
End date: 7 Aug. 1886 |

Notes: |
The report in the Book of the Counties' Chess Association, says that Hill retired after playing only 6 games, so his games were not counted in total official scores, but are included here for rating purposes. It also says that Wilmot retired after more than half his games were played, so his unplayed games were counted as losses, but it is not clear which games were not played. Then it says that Shorthouse 'similarly retired', so presumably a few of his games were lost be default also. Supposing that in these last two cases (Wilmot and Shorthouse), not many of their games were not played, I include all of them. The Nottinghamshire Guardian says that play in all sections of the Counties' Chess Association meeting (apart from the international tournament, evidently) finished on Sat. 7 Aug. 1886. |
