Notes: |
"Gaige has 'D.M. Rogers' at Excelsior 1901; Di Felice has 'Rogers, D.M.'; chessgames.com has 'D C Rogers'. The Brooklyn Daily Eagle of 29 Sep. 1901 has 'D.M. Rogers'. The Minneapolis Journal of 14 Aug. 1901 has 'Captain Rogers' and the issue of 19 Aug. 1901 has 'Captain Rogers' of Milwaukee, identified as 'D.M. Rogers', who was Minnesota State Champion in 1898. However, the New York Clipper of 12 Mar. 1898 has 'Capt. A.H. Rogers' of Minneapolis winning the State Chess Association championship that year. Is this the same player, and if so, which initials are correct? Or were there two distinct players named Captain Rogers?" |
