Event table notes

Event data
Name: 2nd Western Chess Association Tournament (2nd USA Open)
Place: Excelsior
Start date: 12 Aug. 1901
End date: 17 Aug. 1901

Notes:
Gaige has 'R.J. Spencer', 'J.H. Clark', 'G. Thompson', and 'D.M. Rogers' at this event; Di Felice has 'Spencer, R.J.', 'Clark, John Levi', 'Thompson, Guy W.', and 'Rogers, D.M.'; chessgames.com has 'George B Spencer', 'John W Clark', 'Guy M Thompson', and 'D C Rogers'. The Minneapolis Journal of 19 Aug. 1901 has 'George B. Spencer', 'J.H. Clark', 'Guy M. Thompson', and 'D.M. Rogers' at the beginning of the article, but 'J.W. Clark' further down, and the Minneapolis Journal of 15 Aug. 1901 has 'J.W. Clark'. The Brooklyn Daily Eagle of 29 Sep. 1901 has 'G.B. Spencer', 'J.H. Clark', 'G.M. Thompson', and 'D.M. Rogers'. Gaige gives the score for Rogers against Clark as '1?' and for Clark against Rogers as '1?'; Di Felice shows this as a win for Clark over Rogers. The Minneapolis Journal of 19 Aug. 1901 shows a '1' in both places. I have used Di Felice's version, which is consistent with the totals given in the crosstable in the Minneapolis Journal.
