Notes: |
OzBase says that the Quiroga who played in the Championship of Victoria, Australia in 1891 was from Mexico. The Australian newspapers of the early 1890s usually gave his name as 'V. Quiroga' but the Weekly Times of Melbourne (7 Jun. 1890, p.9) has 'Y. Quiroga'. The fact that the Melbourne player is identical to the San Francisco player of the later 1890s is proven by a report in the Australasian of 23 Feb. 1895 (p.381). Thanks to Walter Chan for these references. |
