| The rules for the Löwenthal Cup stated that the event was to be played in May, but the earliest report of the result I have found comes in the 15 June 1878 issue of the Illustrated London News (p.567), so I guess that it finished in early June. Sergeant gives Wayte's score as 13.5/14. |
