The Chess Player's Magazine of July 1864 (p.218) has 'Rev. Dr. Salter', but the Aug. 1864 issue (p.242) has 'Rev. D. Salter', which is probably a correction. La Stratégie (15 Sep. 1867, p.209) has 'D. Solter'. The Westminster Papers of 1 May 1872 (vol.5, p.5) has 'S.M. Salter'.
