Event table notes

Event data
Name: 9th Counties Chess Association Meeting - Handicap Tournament
Place: London, England
Start date: 29 July 1878
End date: 3 Aug. 1878

Notes:
I presume that it was Gunsberg who played as Mephisto in this event. I am not sure whether it was A.B. Baxter or C.M. Baxter in this event (or another), but the former seems most likely. Only who beat who is recorded in the Chess Player's Chronicle. I am guessing that these were all 1-0 with no draws. Wayte was to play Newham in the first round, and Colonel Minchin in the second, but apparently did not play.
