Event data |
Name: 3rd New Jersey State Tournament |
Place: Rutherford |
Start date: 22 Feb. 1888 |
End date: 22 Feb. 1888 |
|
Notes: |
This was a 32-player tournament in which each player played between 2 and 5 games, all in one day. We know only each player's total score and the results of the games listed here, but not the other pairs of opponents. This means that there is selection bias in reporting these few results, but it probably gives a fair indication of the relative strengths of the strongest players, so I include them for rating here. The report in the History of the New Jersey Chess Association, by Duncan S. Walker, gives Vorrath's result as +3-1, which is not consistent with his result of +2-2 from the Newark Sunday Call. Walker has 'J.G. Kemper' at this event, while the Neward Sunday Call has 'Albert Kempa'. |
