Event table notes

Event data
Name: Westminster - Bristol Telegraph Match
Place: London and Bristol
Start date: Dec. 1868
End date: Dec. 1868

Notes:
This was an 8-a-side match, but according to Löwenthal and Medley, the games Skipworth-Fedden, Hewitt-Franklin (W.), and Lamb-Burt were unfinished (if I am reading the table of results correctly). Sergeant gives the result as 4-1 for Westminster in games that were finished. No precise date is given for this match, though it was one of the events associated with London Congress of 1868-1869. The Congress began in late Nov. 1868, but since the Telegraph Match is reported between events that occurred in early Dec. 1868, I will guess that it also occurred in Dec. 1868.
